Who Am I?
My name is Ted Behr, AKA Coach Ted, AKA The Uncommon Success Coach. I have been coaching people in finding the career of their dreams for over 14 years. It took me 30 years, 7 career changes and 12 jobs to create the life that fits me perfectly today, and I now help others do the same.
What Do I Do?
I help people in midlife who are looking for more satisfaction in their work to find a new career that is fulfilling, meaningful and gets them out of bed each morning looking forward to their day.
What Makes Me a Successful Coach?
I am a powerful teacher with rich depths of wisdom and compassion. I am also highly entertaining and straightforward, idealistic and practical. By creating a safe space where my clients feel comfortable making candid disclosures, I help them see the mazes they get stuck in – and how to get out. I help my clients sort, structure and re-frame their perspectives, gain new insights and formulate effective action plans so that they can make a successful midlife career change.
Why Did I Create This Site?
I am on a mission to help as many Boomers find their dream career as I can before I leave this planet. Through my blog and the products and services I offer here, my goal is to increase the impact that I have beyond what I can do solely in my coaching.
What is My Approach?
Christopher Morley wrote, “There is only one success…to be able to spend your life in your own way.”
That quote frames both my professional and personal life experience. As The Uncommon Success Coach, my goal is your success in going through your midlife career change and creating the life that you truly want to be living. To support you in that process, I use everything I have learned in my years of life experience as a man, as a manager, as a community leader, as a person in recovery, and as a spiritual seeker. I combine my results-oriented, active, planning skills with my relational, compassionate, caring, listening, and intuitive skills. In my 15 years as a coach, I have drawn on my 30 years spent in a variety of mid- and senior-level management positions and leadership roles in organizations involved in community organizing, human services and mental health. And I bring years of experience of personally grappling with that perennial question: “What do I want to be when I grow up?”
